We Strive To:
inspire a lifelong love for Mother Tongue Languages
provide authentic and engaging learning experiences
leverage technology and innovative pedagogy
strengthen students' cultural identity and appreciation
empower every learner to communicate confidently and effectively
Our Approach
The Mother Tongue Languages Department adopts a student-centred and future-focused approach to language learning that develops confident bilingual communicators with strong cultural roots and an appreciation of Singapore's multicultural society.

Our Key Programmes
Mother Tongue Fortnight Programme
Our annual Mother Tongue Fortnight provides students with engaging and immersive language experiences beyond the classroom. Through hands-on workshops, cultural activities and interactive programmes, students develop greater confidence in using their Mother Tongue while deepening their appreciation of its rich heritage and traditions.

Cultural Celebrations
Celebrations such as Chinese New Year, Hari Raya and Pongal bring languages and cultures to life through performances, traditional customs and festive activities. These shared experiences foster cultural appreciation, strengthen students' sense of identity and promote respect for Singapore's multicultural society.

Learning Journeys
Authentic learning extends beyond the classroom through heritage trails, theatre performances, museum visits, and community partnerships. These experiences enable students to apply their language skills in meaningful contexts while gaining a deeper understanding of history, culture and contemporary society.

Competitions
Students are encouraged to participate in a wide range of school-based and national language competitions. These opportunities nurture confidence, creativity and resilience while providing authentic platforms for students to showcase their language proficiency, communication skills, and talents.
Talent Development Programme
Students take on leadership roles as emcees, ambassadors, performers and programme facilitators during departmental events and school activities. Through these authentic experiences, they develop confidence, communication skills, teamwork, and a strong sense of responsibility as leaders within the school community.
Our Mother Tongue Languages Department believes that every language opens a door to new perspectives, deeper cultural understanding, and meaningful connections. Guided by our school's RISE values, we are committed to providing authentic and engaging learning experiences that nurture confident bilingual learners who communicate with purpose, embrace their cultural heritage and contribute meaningfully to Singapore's multicultural society and beyond.
