Department Programmes
At the Humanities Department, we believe that meaningful learning goes beyond the classroom. Through authentic and experiential learning opportunities, we help students connect classroom concepts to real-world issues, deepen their understanding of the Humanities, and develop a lifelong curiosity about the world around them.

Our Secondary Two Geography students investigate the factors influencing housing and urban development. Through analysing information, synthesising evidence and presenting their findings, they deepen their understanding of how cities are planned and developed.
The Humanities Department offers the following subjects to our students:

Glocal Assembly Programme
As part of our school-wide Glocal Assembly Series, the Humanities Department partners with external organisations to provide students with engaging talks on current affairs and emerging global issues. These sessions complement the Humanities curriculum while broadening students' perspectives on topics that matter locally and globally.

Students learning about Generative Artificial Intelligence during a Glocal Assembly conducted by speakers from the National Library Board (NLB).
Learning Journeys
Learning journeys allow students to experience the Humanities beyond the classroom. By engaging with authentic environments and real-world contexts, students develop a deeper appreciation of the concepts they learn in lessons.
Sec 2 History Learning Journey to National Museum
During Week X, our Secondary Two students visited the National Museum of Singapore to participate in the Artefactually Speaking programme, co-developed with the Ministry of Education. Armed with a personalised Passport activity booklet, students explored the galleries independently, selecting exhibits based on their interests. Along the way, they interacted with museum docents and uncovered the fascinating stories behind artefacts spanning over 700 years of Singapore's history.

Elements of Business Skills Out-of-Class Learning (EBS OCL)
In Elements of Business Skills (EBS), students learn the fundamentals of marketing and customer relations across the travel and tourism, hospitality and retail industries.

Talent Development Programme
For students with a passion for the Humanities, the department provides opportunities beyond the curriculum through competitions, conferences and enrichment programmes. These experiences strengthen students' critical thinking, communication and collaboration skills while nurturing informed, confident and globally minded learners.
Model United Nations
As part of our Talent Development Programme, students receive in-house training before participating in Model United Nations conferences. Assuming the roles of diplomats and government representatives, students debate contemporary global issues such as education, crime, healthcare, economic development and international cooperation. Through these experiences, they develop the ability to analyse complex issues, appreciate diverse perspectives and negotiate solutions through constructive dialogue.

Students represented different countries at the Model United Nations Conference, debating global issues while developing their communication, critical thinking and diplomacy skills.
National Youth Environment Conference (NYEC)
The National Youth Environment Conference (NYEC) is a student-led conference that brings together youths from across Singapore to discuss pressing environmental issues through a Model United Nations format. By taking on the roles of diplomats and world leaders, students explore diverse viewpoints and collaborate on solutions to address global environmental challenges.

Our students collaborated with peers from across Singapore to discuss environmental issues and propose sustainable solutions at the National Youth Environment Conference.
Historical Scene Investigation
The Historical Scene Investigation (HSI) Challenge, organised annually by the National Library Board (NLB), provides students with the opportunity to apply historical inquiry and research skills in a competitive setting. Working collaboratively, students analyse historical sources, investigate evidence and construct well-supported arguments.
