Woodlands Ring Secondary School was one of the schools participating in the Singapore-Zhejiang Exchange Programme (SZEP) since 2012. Students from our school have visited Cheng Guan Middle School in Jia Xing, Pinghu in 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017 since the Twinning Programme began.
Trip to China in 2015
In 2015, the school established ties with Xin Dai Middle School where our students visited as part of our Twinning Programme from 2016.
GCE 2026
In May 2026, Woodlands Ring Secondary School embarked on its first overseas Global Classroom Experience (GCE) to China since 2019, bringing 38 teachers and students to Cheng Guan Middle School. Led by Vice-Principal Mr Melvin Tay, the delegation enjoyed a memorable educational and cultural exchange. Students were immersed in authentic Chinese classroom lessons, where they experienced a different learning environment, observed diverse teaching approaches, and interacted closely with their Chinese peers. Through collaborative classroom activities and discussions, they gained fresh perspectives on learning, developed greater confidence in communicating across cultures, and deepened their appreciation of China's education system and rich cultural heritage. These first-hand experiences encouraged adaptability, curiosity, and global awareness—essential qualities for thriving in an increasingly interconnected world.
More than just a cultural visit, the GCE programme provided a meaningful exchange of learning between the two schools. Students also participated in programming, painting traditional Chinese fans, creating sculptures, and wrapping rice dumplings.
While students participated in classroom lessons alongside with their Chinese peers, our teachers are engaged in professional dialogue, classroom observations, and the sharing of curriculum and teaching practices. This embodies the true spirit of the Global Classroom Experience—opening minds, fostering mutual understanding, and enriching learning through authentic cross-cultural experiences.
Our teachers were invited to conduct lessons for English Language and Physical Education. They also participated in lesson observations organised by our twinning school as part of professional learning.

In July 2026, 34 teachers and students from Cheng Guan Middle School visited Woodlands Ring Secondary School, continuing this shared commitment and writing the next chapter of our enduring friendship in education. Together, we look forward to creating new memories, strengthening friendships, and inspiring one another through meaningful global learning experiences.
